THE DEATH OF DYSKO/mixcrate mix

So, as we head in a new direction with the blog...We, that being Amanda and myself have created our first posts based on metallic objects. You should really see Amanda's post, which can be found here... SEE/femme

I have decided to take a different approach to the metallic subject matter...If you have placed your seat in the upright position, then prepare yourself for my thought process. Please make sure that you keep your feet and hands inside the ride at all times... So, as I couldn't see myself using the same poses found at Dollhouse Vacancy I thought, what am I to do? As I was completing a new set based on the musical progression of disco to what is now house music...now, prepare yourself...disco equals disco ball, house music is now the new disco and has been for a while. Disco ball equals shiny reflective ball which in turn shows shiny images on the dance floor. These reflective images are displayed in the image of the new mix set (see above). So, now do you see how this image coincides with a metallic them? Good!

Anyway, enjoy as you are now bound for a very interesting ride... Did I mention this is a free download?

FEELING LUCKY?/ deter only in america deter tee

I scored this Margiela cuff at H&M for $5...that's right $5! You can't pass up a deal like that, so I purchased a few more pieces between $15 and $20. The Deter tee I'm wearing cost me more, but its super cool...so, no complaints here!

I'm digging the retro look of these Replay Vintage sunglasses. For some reason I have really started to find inspiration in things from the past. Clothing, music, movies...Now where is my copy of GZA's Liquid Swords?

P.S. if you haven't already done so, follow this link to check out my latest set under my AKA Qualifid MTRL  #the dark side of '93 a free download on mixcrate.

#THE DARK SIDE OF '93/ new mixcrate upload

I have been listening to some old school drum and bass...I love this stuff and it never gets old. So, I have compiled a few tunes in a set that take me back to when it was about samples, distorted basslines and chopped up beats. This is where it all started...ENJOY!

WARNING: This is not for the faint of heart. Do not listen to this mix if you have an electronic implanted medical device of any kind such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, insulin pump or if you are pregnant.

Here's another piece of my Demobaza pre-order. How cool are these deconstructed fingerless gloves? I am definitely a believer in Demobaza and will be purchasing more pieces soon!

Well, in a few hours I'll board a plane...next destination, Iceland! Are you ready?

This is Digital Vacancy...signing off.

IndiFUEL/mixcould set

There's only a few days left before I board a plane to Iceland.  I can only think about the years that have gone by with this moment being only a thought in my mind. I think back to that crucial moment that I have never forgotten- Staring at a TV screen in the late hours of the night at an image of a giant stuffed teddy bear trolling through the woods while being tracked by a hunter who it later kills.  And there it was, I was entranced by my first exposure to Björk. An artist that brought a sound that I had never heard before . Her voice is as mesmerizing as the construction of her songs and the images in her videos. This was my first exposure to Iceland during a pivotal time in music. It also began a growing need to visit the country that continues to bring forth such amazing talent to the music industry.

So here's my contribution to Iceland a country that has a monumental influence in my expanding growth of musical culture.  I present you with a mix that draws upon the sounds of independent artists that inspire me the same way Björk did so many years ago.  It leans a bit more to the likes of Bondax, but this duo from across the pond forces you to do one thing...listen. ENJOY!

...P.S. Icelanders. If you see me, say 'Hi!' Let's have a drink.
